Hi there!
I'm Marie Cashin and I hail from the wonderful little town of Carlow. I have lived my whole life here and love to be a part of the community, through my work and experiences.
From childhood I have always found myself drawn to creativity in many forms, gaining much musical knowledge from my well known family, the Hennessy's.
Singing and dancing in general became such a big part of my life, with many people telling me "it's just in the blood!"
I have spent the last 20 years of my life making a career out of being a dance teacher/stage school owner/choreographer for musicals.
I qualified from the College of Professional Dance, Dublin in 2002 with a Diploma in Dance Training which opened the door to the last amazing 20 years!
I also have an ITEC Qualification in Make Up Artistry and much experience with very happy clients. From vintage to modern looks, you can choose anything you like for a simple day out to wedding parties.
All the years of singing and dancing with the hairbrush in the mirror didn't seem so futile in the end!
I became a tutor for Jesters Stage Academy in Kilkenny early in my career which gave me the confidence a year later to open my own dance school in Carlow Town which today is well known as, MC Dance.
I have been choreographer for many musical societies over the years including - Kilkenny, Gorey, Clane and many more. I adore the world of musical theatre and have been lucky to been involved in many as a performer too.
Singing is also a passion of mine and I have sang at many events and concerts. I often sing at weddings and funerals, both of which are a great honour - to pay tribute to someone's life or be a part of someone's big day.
I have always been fascinated by beauty, perfume, department stores, make up, fashion, vintage, Audrey Hepburn......the list goes on!

My motto in life is to try to always be yourself and makeup should reflect that.
So, whether you love full coverage, creative makeup or light and natural, totally depends on you.
I generally say makeup should enhance someone's features and not mask them.
My love for makeup was always apparent but now I'm lucky to say I am making a career out of it,
allowing me to be creative with so many beautiful faces. I have an ITEC Qualification in Make Up Artistry.
Getting make up done is always a treat and gives you some 'me "time".

The studio is located at Eire Og Clubhouse, Carlow, upstairs in the main building.

MC Dance opened its doors in September 2003. The school became more and more established in the community over the years offering a unique repertoire of various dance styles and singing. MC Dance is geared towards confidence building, being aware of each individual child's needs and abilities. Having fun is key whilst learning skills in styles such as hip hop, modern dance, contemporary or lyrical dance, musical theatre, Broadway style and singing along with all that. Games are important for younger classes as they help build social skills at a young age which aids with stage performance. MC Dance show case their end of year show each year at the George Bernard Shaw theatre in Carlow and this is important for students and families to come together each year and celebrate all the hard work completed in a year.
MC Dance has classes in both Carlow and Castledermot.

Marie studied dance at the College of Professional Dance, Dublin in 2000. She graduated with a diploma in dance training and hence went on to open MC dance in 2003. Marie is dedicated to providing children of all ages with a knowledge of dance, whilst having fun at the same time. Marie continues to dance and perform as a dancer herself in many events and shows.
Pamela began her journey with MC School of Dance at the age of just three years old, where she enjoyed 15 years as a student. Now as a tutor Pamela hopes to inspire her same love for dance in the next generation. Pamela is currently studying a MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy where she is exploring the healing powers of movement and dance for the mind and body.

Music is a huge part of my life and I have always been heavy influenced by my musical family.
I always loved to sing, but not always brave enough to go for it!
Really and truly the Covid pandemic of 2020 has a lot to contribute to my confidence for singing.
During those awful lockdowns, I joined a local group which became called "The Backline"
which allowed any one with interest, or gigging artists, a platform to perform when the entertainment industry was so badly hit.
It was life changing and the Backline itself became known on a National and International level.
My mother, Clare Cashin, is widely known and respected in the community for playing at weddings and funerals.
I have since started singing with her at these events along with writing some of my own music.
